Chapman Game Summary

A great game by both teams. UCLA went up early, but Chapman fought their way back into the game to tie it at 9 with 12 minutes left in the game. UCLA took the lead back with 7 minutes and then scored a few more when Chapman pressured them to take the ball back. Their final two goals were in the last 35 seconds of the game. With no disrespect to UCLA, who is a phenomenal team, no one likes winning because of ONE sided officiating. Chapman had 3 player (and a 4th on the coach) yellow cards, 2 of which were to first time offenders in their two year collegiate career. The 3rd occurred when two players collided for a ground ball (which was won by Chapman), but the UCLA player ended up on the ground. UCLA had zero yellow cards. This would all be fine, except for the fact that UCLA was also fouling Chapman in the same manner that Chapman received their cards. Unfortunately, it did not stop there and the nick nack calls went in UCLA's favor as well. In addition, a clear take down of a Chapman player resulted in a tossed ball, and a ball that was clearly kicked by UCLA, was awarded back to UCLA. In Chapman's two years of being competitive, never had they had more than one yellow card given during a game. A guess there is a first for everything. A dvd of the game is being sent to the officials on Monday for training.
